Creative Direction & Instructional Design
UAF Center for Teaching and Learning
I am a designer, Google Certified Apps for Education Trainer, and I worked at UAF Center for Teaching and Learning for over 21 years as an instructional designer and as a creative director. UAF has since dissolved CTL, and I’ve gone my own way. I still value inquiry and ingenuity as tools for remaining an effective lifelong learner, and am most engaged thinking about how we become better problem solvers. I find the most interesting spaces are platforms that support user contribution, collaboration, and place-based learning. I also taught the Web Graphics & Multimedia class (CITS F221) for 7 years at UAF Community and Technical College both face-to-face and online.
Graphic Design
A Portfolio of Work
I began my focus on graphic design in the late 90s, working for the US Army as a Psyop Specialist. Since then, I’ve freelanced design work and have worked as an in-house graphic designer for a number of organizations.
Metalwork & Sculpture
Fine Art and Metalsmithing
Metalwork is my antidote to moving bits and bytes and pixels around all day. Applying heat and force to move and shape metal is my happy place. I create this work under the name Far North Dry Goods Studio.
